We explore the different ways to research our ancestry, using national and county records offices and other means.

The excitement and pleasure, amusement (and occasionally pain) derived from unearthing facts concerning our ancestors is very real, and to be able to place yourself somewhere near the bottom of a comprehensive family tree, going back over two hundred years, gives a real sense of achievement.

Some of our group can trace their ancestors back much further and have learned some fascinating facts in the process.

Much of the information is found on census returns and birth, marriage and death registers. However, nowadays a great deal of information can be found on the internet which helps to speed up the process considerably.
